Build A Successful Wisconsin Site - Part 2

Author: Johnny Smith

In today's lesson we will look at a Wisconsin top ranking web site and go through some of the main attributes that make this site rank high in the top search engines.

I assume that you are like most people and use Google as your search engine of choice.

Google is the standard by which all search engine optimization is measured. The reason for this is simple, Google is considered to be the search engine that delivers the most relevant pages on top of their ranking. Google is also the search engine where it is the hardest to improve your ranking.

So, go to Google and run a query for 'Wisconsin'.

One of the highest ranking sites that will show up is Travel Wisconsin and we will go through what makes this particular site ranking so high. Keep in mind that the one word keyword phrase 'Wisconsin' is a highly competitive phrase with about 240 000 000 competing pages at the time I ran the search.

The first thing that strikes a visitor when he first comes to this Wisconsin top ranking web site is how simple, clean and inviting the site is.

Now compare that to Google's main page. Google sure could afford a more advanced page, but they too stay nice, clean and simple.

It can't simply be a coincident and the conclusion should be that a simple site is good.

The second thing you notice on Travel Wisconsin is the easy navigation. It's easy to click through to the category that interests you the most.

After the click through you find a lot of different information and high quality articles. Remember that we have talked about this before - content is king in the world of the search engines.

When a surfer query Google for 'Wisconsin' and find this site high up in the top of the ranking, he or she sure will spend quite some time on this interesting site. They come to like and enjoy the site and online people most often only buy from people they like and trust.

Can you see where we are going here?

Last thing we will do is to run a back link check of our Wisconsin top ranking web site about travel. You can easily find a ton of free tools for checking back links when you run a search for it.

At the time I did this check Travel Wisconsin had about 1,590 other sites linking back to them.

In these days when inbound link means so much to the search engine ranking of your Wisconsin site, you can figure out for yourself that you have some serious linking to do if you want to show up high in the ranking.

Now you might whish that you were back in those old days of search engine optimization when links back to your site wasn't that important.

But don't be a quitter though. Keep building your Wisconsin site and many of those inbound links will come naturally because people will want to link to your high quality content.

Conclusion of this lesson is that you should do your keyword research, pick your niche carefully, build your content and then it's not impossible that you too can have a Wisconsin top ranking web site.
